Bozeman Symphony to Partner with Carnegie Hall’s Link Up: The Orchestra Rocks

Nearly 1,300 local students will perform alongside the Symphony in 2026

BOZEMAN, Mont. – For the first time, the Bozeman Symphony will partner with Carnegie Hall's Weill Music Institute to bring Link Up: The Orchestra Rocks, a nationally acclaimed music education program, to students across the Gallatin Valley during the 2025–26 season.

Nearly 1,300 elementary students will participate in the Link Up curriculum and gather at the Willson Auditorium in mid-February for a culminating concert. From their seats, students will sing and play the recorder alongside the Symphony, applying the musical concepts they have studied in the classroom. For many, this will be their very first live orchestra concert, an unforgettable introduction to the power and excitement of symphonic music.

“We are thrilled to bring this nationally recognized program to our students,” said Beth Campbell, Bozeman School District Fine Arts Coordinator. “Link Up provides a unique opportunity for children to not only learn about orchestral music in the classroom, but to experience it firsthand by performing alongside the Bozeman Symphony. It’s an inspiring way to connect what they’ve studied with the excitement of live performance, and I know this will spark a lasting love of music for many of our students.”

For more than 30 years, the Bozeman Symphony has created concerts to inspire fourth graders with the magic of live symphonic music. Designed to be both entertaining and educational, these performances align with a pivotal time in a student’s musical journey, as many prepare to choose an instrument for their school’s band or orchestra programs. Presented in partnership with Bozeman Public Schools and area educators, these concerts aim to spark curiosity and foster a lifelong love of the arts.

Now in its 35th year, Link Up has partnered with orchestras and schools nationwide to provide students in grades 3–5 with hands-on opportunities to explore orchestral repertoire, develop fundamental musical skills, and even experiment with composition. The program provides free, high-quality resources for teachers, including printed and digital classroom materials, online video and audio tools, and professional development to ensure an engaging and successful experience for all participants.

The Bozeman Symphony joins more than 100 orchestras worldwide in offering Link Up. Since 2003, Carnegie Hall has worked with professional, community, and university orchestras across the United States and abroad to enhance education programs and strengthen connections with local schools. During the 2024–25 season, Link Up reached more than 300,000 students and teachers in the U.S., Canada, China, the Dominican Republic, Spain, Kenya, New Zealand, Japan, and beyond.
