Bozeman Symphony and Montana Ballet Company Unite for Two Breathtaking Productions

BOZEMAN, Mont. – The Bozeman Symphony is proud to expand its artistic partnership with the Montana Ballet Company (MBC), bringing live symphonic music to two of MBC’s major productions in the upcoming season. Bozeman Symphony musicians will continue to accompany MBC’s beloved holiday classic, The Nutcracker, and under the baton of Music Director Norman Huynh, MBC and the full Bozeman Symphony Orchestra will present a new full-length production of Sleeping Beauty.

Performances of The Nutcracker will take place December 6–7, 2025, followed by Sleeping Beauty on March 7–8, 2026, both at the Willson Auditorium in downtown Bozeman.

“I’m looking forward to this production and working with the artistic team at MBC. What I am most excited about is the fact that we are expanding the pit and will be able to fit a larger orchestra,” said Music Director Norman Huynh.” Utilizing a full orchestra in the pit for a ballet production adds so much impact to the show. It’s going to be awesome!”

MBC Artistic Director Melissa Bowman said, “MBC's collaboration with the Bozeman Symphony is a truly inspiring artistic partnership. There is something magical that happens when live symphonic music meets the expressive power of dance. The beauty, emotion, and energy created on stage is not only unforgettable—it’s a celebration of what’s possible when the arts come together in harmony.”

This collaboration reflects both organizations’ long-term strategies for growth and community impact. Over the past decade, MBC has tripled its operating budget, added new performances and educational initiatives, and expanded its professional company and Academy, which now serves more than 400 young dancers annually. The Bozeman Symphony has also experienced remarkable growth, setting records for ticket sales and programming. The 2024–25 season featured 34 performances, a broader reach through diverse programming and venues, and an expanded focus on education and community access, particularly for students, young families, and vulnerable populations.

Founded in 1984, Montana Ballet Company is a nonprofit arts organization dedicated to presenting world-class performances, providing high-quality dance education, and fostering access to the arts through meaningful community outreach. A cornerstone of Bozeman’s cultural landscape, MBC reaches thousands annually through its performances, Academy, and partnerships.

Now in its 58th season, the Bozeman Symphony engages, uplifts, and inspires through extraordinary symphonic and choral performances. Its dynamic season includes a Classical Series, Bozeman Symphony Presents Series (featuring pops, jazz, and film scores), and free community programs like Symphony Storytime, Kinderkonzerts, and Far Afield, which brings live classical music to rural and underserved communities.
