VIOLIN POSITIONS:

Associate Concertmaster, Principal Violin II, Section Violin (Multiple Chairs Available)

Thank you for your interest in auditioning for the Bozeman Symphony, located in beautiful southern Montana! The BSO is currently a per-service orchestra, and is in the midst of historic growth with exciting developments and opportunities in our near future!

Through the audition process on Thursday, 15 June, we will be hiring for the positions of Associate Concertmaster, Principal Violin II, and multiple chairs of Section Violin. This audition is for all individuals who wish to audition for one, two or three of the available Violin positions!

Candidates for all positions will use the same repertoire list of excerpts, linked below.

Principal Pay scale (including Associate Concertmaster): $90/service
Section Pay scale: $60/service
Services Per Season:

The BSO currently produces 9 concert cycles per season.
Core musicians are required to participate in at least 7 of these 9 concert cycles.
Each concert cycle has 3-5 rehearsals, and 2-4 concerts.
Services typically go from the Tuesday through Sunday of a concert production week.
The BSO’s 2023/2024 season will offer at least 59 services to core musicians.

Travel Reimbursement: Musicians are reimbursed for travel expenses:

In-state musicians are reimbursed up to $170 per concert cycle.
Out-of-state musicians are reimbursed up to $300 per concert cycle.

Lodging for Musicians Traveling 50+ Miles Each Way: Gratis lodging is provided in the form of homestays with our corps of amazing, sweet host families. Each musician is provided their own, private bedroom. If we don’t have enough host families’ lodging available on a given cycle, then the BSO will pay for hotel rooms for the remaining musicians.
Outreach Participation: Core Members might occasionally be asked to participate in the Bozeman Symphony’s outreach program, which operates outside of the general Symphony Season Schedule.
