We conclude our 43rd concert season with the Master’s masterpiece—the powerful and exultant 9th Symphony of Ludwig van Beethoven.

It’s considered not only one of the greatest pieces of music ever written, but one of the greatest achievements of the Human Spirit. With its highly innovative structure of emotional depth, intensity and musical splendor, and its powerful and jubilant chorus celebrating the brotherhood of Man, the 9th speaks a universal truth just as relevant today as it was when composed in 1824. With a quartet of renowned soloists and our Symphonic Choir, enhanced by the Bozeman High School Concert Choir, this program promises to be our most inspirational concert ever.

Symphony No. 9, op. 125, D minorLudwig van Beethoven

We’ll take you from the virtuosic, to the playful, to the sublime in this highly eclectic program with a little something for everyone.

The program begins with the epic forces of the most popular (and dazzling) tone poem ever written: Liszt’s Les Preludes. Next we’ll enchant you with the beautiful harmonies, vivid orchestral colors and famous melodies of Grieg’s Peer Gynt Suite No. 1. Finally, for the third concerto performance of our new Steinway grand piano, we’ll welcome back Bozeman favorite and gold medalist of the 10th Van Cliburn International Piano Competition Jon Nakamatsu, performing Johannes Brahms’ deeply profound 1st piano concerto. Commonly referred to as Brahms’ “5th Symphony” due to its vast scope and depth this presentation promises to be the most moving experience of the season.

Join us this year at the Emerson Crawford Theater as we welcome the guitar, violin and bass trio “Three to Django” in this fun program of light classics and jazz. Featuring the music of Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli, Cole Porter, Jerome Kern, Fritz Kreisler and much, much more, we’ll fill the air with the romance of an evening in France. There’ll be fine French cuisine in the Ballroom before the concert and you can dance the night away afterwards as we celebrate the Bozeman Symphony in our biggest (and most fun) fundraiser of the year.

We’ll tug at your patriotic heartstrings with this program of all-American music by three of our greatest American composers.
We’ll begin by joining a group of sailors on shore leave in the Big Apple as they explore the sights of New York and discover romance, in Leonard Bernstein’s Three Dances from On The Town. Next, our greatest American masterpiece, by the composer who defined the American sound: Aaron Copland’s Appalachian Spring. Finally, we’ll perform Howard Hanson’s lush Symphony No. 2, better know as the “Romantic” Symphony.
